Support in the School

• Training for staff on attachment and using a trauma informed approach

• Interventions focusing on language, social and emotional skills, alongside literacy and numeracy skills (including Nurture Groups / Nurture sessions)

• Use of volunteer mentors (from the sixth form and nearby independent school) to act as attachment figures promoting secure attachment styles

Support for the Family

• Parenting groups

• Partner drop-in service

• Links with family support workers

• Signposting to additional resources

Support from within the Community

• School staff from both state and independent schools complete an audit of support available within the community (link with the Local Offer)

• Linking pupils with after-school and holiday activities (including siblings), youth clubs, sports clubs, holiday clubs, coaching, tutoring and links with social care etc.

Evaluation

• School data is used to track progress, attendance and academic attainment of disadvantaged pupils (those eligible for Pupil Premium Funding)

• Pre and Post questionnaires can be used to measure the mental health and wellbeing of sixth form mentors.
